Google’s Business Video Service

It’s been a while since I wrote about online video and other content - the very reason for me starting the blog three years ago. But all the web activity out there, including Google’s new Chrome browser has whetted my appetite. So here’s putting my toe back into these waters.
I picked this up on searchengineland.com who in turn had posted from netteevee.
“Google is going to be adding video sharing tools to Google Apps for businesses this coming Monday. Paid users of Google Apps will be allowed to upload videos with no time restrictions but a maximum size per upload of 300 MB, for a total of 3GB per account and unlimited video views.”
This is from the official Google press release:
“YouTube™ has enabled millions of consumers to easily capture and share video at an unprecedented level, yet corporate video has remained expensive and complicated,” said Dave Girouard, president of enterprise, Google. “With Google Video for business, our customers get the ease of YouTube combined with the simple and secure sharing of Google Apps.”
It’s pretty much restricted to in-company video sharing at the moment which is a shame. I know of company’s who would love to do the YouTube thing under a different name, using a video share platform that had some business gravitas. Here’s a look at Hulu, a video platform for professional (read TV) content.
Somewhere in all this is an opportunity for a site that does professional video sharing for business. Fordela have one but that too is non-public. Am scratching my head why nobody did this yet.
