Bollywood

I happen to be an apathetic fan of Indian culture and their movies. I know apathetic and fan don’t mix too well and I’m curious myself about how little effort I put into pursuing this interest, particularly as every man knows Indian women are extraordinarily beautiful. As a fan also of Busby Berekley movies, why don’t I chase Bollywood down more?

Is it a form of incipient racism? I suspect racism plays a bigger part in my life than I admit. it turns out that I live in a white area, work with white people and write for papers and magazines that are overwhelmingly white. More’s the pity. As a student I lived with Pakistani guys and I found their culture engrossing. I let myself lose contact with them, regrettably.

Putting all that to one side - multiculturalism doesn’t work right? - from time to time I like to browse around Indian resources. Today I hit on enews, an Indian blog aggregator which took me to some interesting dahl recipes and Indian premier league soccer.

Enews searches over 160,000 Indian blogs and the content is really first class, at least of those I visited. I remember a year or so back bemoaning our lack of interaction with the blogs of other cultures and all I can do is moan again. At least this time I have something to cook for dinner tonight.
