That Google Knol Debate

I’m just visiting the big debates after having a few months blogging light. Google Knol. Stowe Boyd comes down in favour of the blogified knowledge repository. I come down against having to worry about google all over again. It seems to me the web is becoming far too diverse now to worry about any one platform.
I think techcrunch got it right by comparing with squidoo and hubpages. Squidoo is the kind of product I went for in its early days - a bit like facebook - but soon turned away from, involuntarily even. I thought I must create some pages but never got round to it. I apologise for this apathy. I’m clearly not a good web activist.
You just know people will jump in and write for Knol but I hope I’ll be too busy, opening a new virtual gallery with any luck. Scheduled date is Jan 17th. That apart I reiterate what I’ve said before. I think the future of the blog world is a gradual conversion to discussions with companies, authorities, power bases; and the focus should be on tools that facilitiate that more effectively. Now, if Squidoo or Knol became that, I think we’d be onto something of historic value.
