Glad to see Tioti made its first round of funding today - backed by Pond Ventures who are based in London and Silicon Valley.
I met Paul and Marc last week, the two Tioti founders, and you’d be hard pushed to find two entrepreneurs with a more singular focus. I happen to think the website needs a bit more of that singular focus because it isn’t always clear to me what service it is offering. Here is is from the two lads though:
“TIOTI is a social media aggregator for television. We pull together information sources about TV shows from all over the web, connect that information with the full spectrum of download sources on the Internet and filter everything so that you and your friends can get hold of your favorites as seamlessly as possible.”
They’ve had great public response - early on getting 10,000 uniques a day. It looks to me like they could be close to a holy grail of the Long Tail, being the gateway people go to for all things television. If so it opens up a whole raft of opportunities for them, due reward for sweating on the site and their business for two years without funding..
