Meetings

A few meetings recently inspired a rethink of my own attitude towards blogging. Met with Rob and Jonathan from Cybercom up in Dublin last week. They’re doing some interesting work on digital marketing and they tell me the whole area is growing strongly now Ireland has good broadband penetration. My talk with them centred for a while on how different types of media are used to influence other types - I mean for example outdoor driving people to mobile and TV and the web apparently promoting each other’s cause. It’s made me think again about how I see ads - looking for their new layers of meaning, a subject I’d like to start writing about.
Then met up this morning with Donncha and his beautiful family down on the beach. I wonder how many people outside the tech circle know about Donncha’s role in developing wordpress, and through that blogging in general. it’s something I raised at the Irish Times recently but haven’t yet had the go ahead to write about. I really like Donncha’s take on blogging, conversation focused yes, but also very pragmatic about how to use good, ad words, and related tools of the trade. Hope to have Donncha’s images in the gallery very soon - though as yet still waiting on the power company to switch us on.
So back on with the blogging. I’m giving some serious though to writing a book around the interviews I’ve been doing with innovators around the world. Would anyone want to read a book about how innovators became the most important dynamic in our age, replacing politicians and the arts as the engine of our culture?

Would love to see a book like that.
I’ve long believed that innovators are the ones with the biggest cultural impact.
e.g. who has had the biggest effect on the behaviour of Irish youth; The Minister for Arts and Misc, any author/artist/poet/sculptor or the guys who created Bebo?
