I’ve spent part of the evening painting the floor in the gallery. There could have been better solutions - a new floor, leaving the old carpet down (no, not really), rugs… I set out with the intention of creating a home-like gallery, one that maintained some sense of domesticity, so for example there are sinks in some of the rooms and the rooms are all bedroom size. Every time I’ve made an adjustment the domesticity is reduced and the retention of domestic features seems more and more inappropriate. Painting the floors though must about works.
When I walked in today the hallway lights looked totally wrong. I guess I should take them out - but this is all costing good money. Removing those will be another few hundred Euro as is installing some voile over the windows to hide the collateral of being above a restaurant (extractor fans!).
Meanwhile a local framer has a dozen pictures for me to pick up - but I have nowhere to put them. Three walls still need lining paper, the skirting boards are missing in two rooms, three rooms still need painting and the corridor needs a second coat. I’m pretty well over-budget on just about everything. Still, I have some glorious images to introduce to the world, a couple of artist to launch the gallery of whom I am inordinately proud because they’ve let me show their work and some coming up who will knock your socks off. Head over here.
