Environmental or Just Plain Stupid

Watched the environment Minister last night trying to defend the Government’s record on the environment - not only not reaching Kyoto reductions but actually increasing emissions. There’s an interesting debate about to start about global warming. More of the “it really ain’t happening” stuff. But I think the increase in skin cancers, the end of cheap oil, the easier spread of viruses, these secondary factors are perhaps too important to leave just to the debate over global warming. Even if some smart ass proves global warming is natural and cyclical we have to act and in general most people want to.
I’d even go as far as to say many people I know are using global warming as a way of saying to the aggressively commercial and money grabbing people around them, leave off, leave me alone, take your greed and go sunbathe at midday.
At least that’s what I’m doing. It makes me think we might get a more relaxed life style back. The environment is the new socialism.
