BBC and Its New Vision

The BBC has changed its programme commissioning structure and now expects TV programme proposals that are cross-platform. Here’s what STAGE has to say.


Director of Vision Jana Bennett said that the new format provided a “one-stop shop” for commissioning across platforms and added that programming would need to work on the web, mobile phone and new interactive technologies.

I can see where the BBC is coming from but am surprised that the regulators allow it to use public money to stray across all content categories. The move though is going to provide UK indie producers with a financial platform to explore web, mobile and interactive channels. One more reason why countries like Ireland need to get the skates on. The British speak English after all.
