Google’s Double Plus Ungood

UPDATE - I posted this yesterday and then came across Damien Mulley’s woes later. It makes a disturbing read. Google removing his post from search returns?

Add to the following small catalogue of problems pointed out this weekend by the New York Times:
Click fraud coming back to haunt search ads according to the Washington Post and Google removing 30,000 Japanese videos from its YouTube site.

In the 1980s Annie Lennox recording for Virgin’s movie 1984 sang the beautiful mash-up line Double Plus Ungood. Google must be seeing double plus ungoods all around.

They’ve also agreed to remove material from Belgian websites in response to a ruling from the Belgian courts which itself is a sure sign that the European authorities intend buffering Google-growth.

And then reportedlyhanded over details of a user being pursued by litigants.

There is another issue that is yet to rise up and bite Google - the paltry share out of its ad-networks. While Google makes megabucks and fuels a continuous stream of new projects, many content partners are unable to make their sites vaiable. Some deserve not to be viable but the case for increasing the Google payout is strong.

It’s the other side of the coin from click fraud. We all need to work together for a higher good.
