When Wired’s Second Life Travel Guide Becomes a Travel Guide in Second Life

Wired When Wired produced a Travel Guide to Second Life it resonated with a discussion I had yesterday with Rick Segal.

Once people go to Second Life to book holidays in real life, then the majority of guide publishers will be watching their investments go all mouldy on the shelves of book sellers. Unless they get in first of course. And any enterprising destination seller should be there already.

Yet what’s really pushing business into Second Life - kudos - is misplaced and to use today’s keyword, the herd instinct. Sun, Duran Duran, Text 100 and the BBC are not the ones who need to fear Second Life. It’s those who sell online who can be usurped by this new content environment with all its possibilities of show and tell that should be up there testing out the cross-reality future.
