The first man in Sweden to be charged with file-sharing has been acquitted. From Västerås in central Sweden, he allegedly distributed the Swedish film Hip Hip Hora online, says The Local. But, “The Court of Appeal decided that it does not have sufficient proof that the film was uploaded from the man’s computer,” says the story.
I picked this up from Agoravox, a site I’m making a point to browse these past couple of days to see if there is news I might otherwise miss.
This case is interesting because the courts ruled that although the film was definitely placed in the network, and the uploaders IP address was associated with it, the Appeal Court ruling suggests there has to be more evidence to convict.
