Pointers to The Web for Everyday Life

I owe Gimme 20 a post for implying that sites offering health and fitness support tend towards the body fascist. Not my remark but one I quoted.
Gimme 20 helps its site visitors build work out programmes and record training results. They also have a community building area.
This also crossed my desk yesterday from Comscore quoting a pharmaceutical company survey of people seeking food and weight advice: 60% [of respondents] “utilize the Internet to find condition-specific advice, including options for healthy eating/ nutrition, and details on specific programs and diets. Additionally, more than half (53 percent) report visiting a Web site specifically for information on drugs to help reduce their weight.”
The use of the web to support people in everyday life is growing. Make Magazine is one of the more successful magazine sites out there, providing the detail on how to make things technological while craftzine does the same for household tasks. They’re both part of the Federated media network which also promotes parenting site dooce.
I make the point because content is often assumed to be a business that needs professional intervention when increasingly content reflects our need for guidance.
