DVD Exchanges Grow in Popularity

Exsila - Tausch-Community für DVDs

At least they are growing in popularity with entrepreneurs in Europe. Exsila is a Swiss project. I came across it on the Swiss Ventures website who point out that Exsila is a clone of Hitflip, a German DVD sharing site but which might equally be a clone of peerflix. Seems to me the big change in web entrepreneurship in 2006 is nobody is pretending these are new ideas. In fact setting up a web social network business is like opening up a new corner shop.

    Hi Haydn,

I am one of the founders of Hitflip. I would beg to differ, Hitflip is not a Peerflix-clone.

Peerflix wasn’t the first trading site. And while they served as a model in the beginning, Hitflip has evolved a lot. A few examples:
    - Our operations are different in small but important ways. For example, ee send complete cases, not just discs. People make binding offers when entering items.
    - We have DVDs, CDs, Books, Audiobooks and Games where Peerflix only has DVDs.
    - Our site is becoming increasingly social, with mechanisms for discussions on the site.
    - We are going international.

So, yes, there are similarities. Swapping is not a new idea. But Hitflip is not a clone.

    Best regards Jan
