One of the Best Content Sites on the Web - A Little Secret

One of the best content sites on the web is also one of the least well known. Its owner is not to keen on publicity and he may well hate me for bringing it up.

Showstudio is operated by fashion photographer Nick Knight. I interviewed Nick about four months ago not long after his success with two major fashion shoots - the Galliano collection that included models who were dwarves, aged or odd shaped. And Philip Treacy’s fashion collection for Umbro.

Knight is a major force for innovation in fashion photography, and iconography in general, and a man with a strong point of view. In fact that seems to be his main criterion for assessing an artistic work - does its author have a point of view?

One Showstudio project worth checking out is a series of perspectives on fashion.

Knight gave access to his videos from the Galliano shoot to amateur and professional film makers and asked them to come up with their own perspectives.

The result is 20 pro films looking at the same subject and a number of amateur ones too. Some of the names are worth a look - Mike Figgis for one.

The site continues to evolve inspired not just by Knight’s political outlook but also by his global contacts book. It is so densely packed with original ideas and images that it’s impossible to summarise. You just have to go see.
