It tends to happen under the radar of Web 2.0 commentary but the TV is where Web 2.0 will happen and some giant steps are being made in that direction.

London-based Rawflow, a start-up with a Danish background, is one of the pioneers. Already serving medium sized broadcasters, Rawflow is getting ready to launch personal TV streaming at reasonable cost.

The example Rawflow gives of an personal streaming applications is for a live band.

You’d like your grandma in Oslo, your mates in Hamburg and your music manager buddy in New York to see your band’s first live gig which takes place in Liverpool - and you want them to see it LIVE. With RawFlow’s SelfCast which will launch this year you can set up a webcam or a microphone and start web streaming with a few mouse clicks!

SelfCast captures, encodes and broadcasts your gigs, SelfCast or podcasts live. It provides an interface for publishing user generated content directly from cameras, microphones or playlists created from files stored on the disk.

RawFlow are pitching the service for live events, corprate as well as personal, radio streaming, and professional broadcasting.

Like Vpod RawFlow could maybe do with tightening the focus but they have a P2P technology and clearly want to stimulate a network effect.

That apart, there’s no question we’re right on the edge of an explosion in low cost personal TV production and distribution. That’s where the Web 2.0 plays should be looking.
