French Content

I dropped in on WAT to take a look at what the French aggregator community is up to. WAT - We Are Talented, or We are TV - is a video blogging aggregator aimed at a creative user base.
So far there are over 4000 video blogs there, liberating their creativity. It’s something of a regret that the French language is a barrier to many of us and I have to confess despite being in France right now and easily ordering my meals with a tourists version of the language, I find I’m nowhere near talented enough to engage with their real creative culture, simply on a language level.
I love a lot of what the French do and could spend more time there. It may be typically French or it may just be WAT but there is little on the site about the company that owns and runs it.
For those interested it has a section of WATlabs where it appears to be possible to consult specialists in particular areas - for example video makers, who post short videos on the how-to of creating content for the web. And users/members can Skype each other, so the site takes the community facility to real time voice communications.
My impression is the site takes the user-content web more seriously than simple upload sites and stands a chance of becoming a substantial creative base instead of a stop off for clip freaks.
