This is a Fox Mobile mobisode series where the stars drive a Yaris and viewers get to see a quick ad for the Toyota car before each mobisode.
The ad is unobtrusive - in fact in the Netherlands all programmes used to have a joke inserted between sections and the Yaris ads reminded me of the joke. Not that it’s at all witty. It’s just a filler in a world where we need constant content. It’s a little something to fill time and distract your attention.
Which brings me to the quality of the mobisodes. I think they’re too slow, too conventional, too much like trying to be a movie or TV show.
Toyota have got the formula right up to the actual content. A mobile series at a time in history when 90% of 12 year olds want mobile content. Short episodes for the attention challenged. Unobtrusive ads and product placement that’s at more than liveable with. Just the story doesn’t motor enough and the visual grammar belongs to a larger screen.
Other than that: great. Can’t wait to begin making my own.
