Bias at the Majors

“The BBCWATCH reports demonstrate how the BBC consistently fails to adhere to its legal obligations to produce impartial and accurate reporting.”

My impression has always been that the broadcast majors have for a long time seen their role as helping us believe we live in jolly nice societies, ones with a bit of grimble around the edges (damned terrorists and criminals) but by and large it’s a homely world and we should be damned pleased

When you earn staff salaries in senior positions in these places (and get all your taxis, and meals and travel paid), indeed life is agreeable.

Only a minority have that privilege. I was interested then to come across a swathe of websites that believe the BBC is inherently unfair, a view I also subscribe to, and websites that believe its power globally makes it a suitable subject for all and anyone to discuss.

As well as BBC Watch there’s also this site. But there are more on the blog roll. I’m surprised to date the blogging community has had so little impact on the BBC, but then the BBC’s online coverage is so much better than its broadcast coverage, and it has built a dominant position online, two possible explanations.
